Welcome to Cragg's Castle! The home page of Dr. Stephan Cragg. I retired from Shasta College (CA) in June 2004. I continue to closely follow the affairs of the community college movement observing trends and personnel changes as I move into educational contracting, consulting, and online teaching. Many community colleges face the dilemma of filling a specific role or function on campus while waiting for a full-time position to be authorized or filled. One short-term solution is to hire a retiree like me with the specific expertise to start a new program or to fill a vacancy. With my thirty-six years of experience as a full-time professor, dean, vice president of instruction, grants and development executive, research director, international education specialist, online instructor, and interim administrator, I can assist a community college in need of one or more of the following roles:
I have retired to the southwest desert of Arizona after a professional community college career in the states of Washington, Oregon, and California. I'm especially familiar with these three state community college systems, as well as with Arizona and New Mexico. While not all community colleges are alike, similarities, needs, and solutions are universal. Inquiries are welcome should your community college needs parallel my areas of expertise. Even though I'm retired, I'm still especially interested in helping community colleges help students find fulfillment and success in our nation's two year institutions of higher learning. The photo is of Picacho Peak near my home in the southwest desert of Arizona.
